David Ignatius, "It’s a close call on Susan Rice": Wait for the "Official Investigation" of the Benghazi Scandal

In a Washington Post opinion piece entitled "It’s a close call on Susan Rice" (http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/david-ignatius-a-close-call-on-susan-rice/2012/11/30/fbcd3316-3b23-11e2-8a97-363b0f9a0ab3_story.html?hpid=z2), David Ignatius writes:

"Wait for the official investigation of Benghazi, which will make Rice’s television statements look better and show that they were a blip in the tragedy of what happened."

Needless to say, Ignatius doesn't trouble himself to inform his readership that Thomas Pickering was appointed by Obama to lead that "official investigation." Pickering? He just happens to serve on the advisory board of the National Iranian American Council (http://www.niacouncil.org/site/PageServer?pagename=About_pickering), he has met with Hamas leaders, and he serves as the chair of the Board of Trustees of the International Crisis Group where George Soros also serves as a member of the Executive Committee (http://www.crisisgroup.org/en/about/board.aspx).

Recently, Pickering declared, "Data shows that those Americans who do not know Muslims, who do not know much about Islam, are the ones who harbor the greatest feelings of prejudice" (see: http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2012/11/islamophobia_is_the_underlying_cause_of_benghazi.html).

Yup, I just can't wait to see the results of that "official investigation," vindicating Rice.

Despicable.

  1. No escape. I wasn't willing to start the day with David Turner's next installment of brief history of antisemitism this time focusing on ... you guess it American antisemitism (http://blogs.jpost.com/content/political-antisemitism-united-states-1873-1932-0#disqus_thread) so I came here, only to be provoked into thinking about British and American history of antisemitism - so long and sooooooo "impressive."
All these "declarers" of "Islam is a religion of peace," all these defenders of human rights of Palestinians and Palestinians only, all these "boycotters" are motivated by pure and noble instincts and not by pure vicious antisemitism. Sure. Tell this fables to someone else.
    I am a historian.

  2. It sounds like Pickering has conflicts of interest, and can't fairly head a committee investigating the Benghazi terrorist attack, USA response, and what was going on there. Similarly, conflicts of interest were reported in the blogsphere about Philip Zelikow and Janet Reno on the 9/11 commission. How can these be stopped? How can we get some real outsiders to evaluate what happened - people that don't have divided motives but are simply there to seek and report the truth?
