White House Press Secretary Contradicts US Secretary of Defense Concerning Iranian Nuclear Weapons Ambitions

Earlier this week, US Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, on his way from Tunisia to Egypt, claimed that sanctions against Iran are having a "serious impact," and although this "may not seem obvious at the moment," the Iranians "continue to seem interested in trying to find a diplomatic solution" (see: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/07/31/world/middleeast/leon-panetta-urges-israel-to-allow-more-time-for-iran-sanctions-to-work.html?_r=1&ref=world).

Well, today White House Press Secretary Jay Carney acknowledged, "we agree with Prime Minister Netanyahu that the Iranian regime has yet to make the choice it needs to make, which is to abandon its weapons -- nuclear weapons ambitions and fulfill its obligations" (http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2012/08/01/press-gaggle-press-secretary-jay-carney-en-route-mansfield-oh-8112).

Thanks for the Laurel and Hardy act, boys.
